FundraisingAs an organization we are funded by Highland Council and NHS Highland to provide statutory services on their behalf. But there are so many ‘extra’ things we can do if we raise our own charitable monies. Our Children’s Service provides fun days for families, a toy library, sporting activities such as our tandem cycling, making specially designed toys for each individual child, access to technology in their own homes and much more – with an abundance of ideas for new and exciting things to do. Our adult service provides social groups, outings with the minibus, a tape library, newsletters, shopping trips, helping older people develop skills in using computers, etc. Voluntary income is essential for us to maintain and develop a range of extra services. Not only will you be raising much needed income but you’ll also be raising awareness of what is available in Highland to support and help people who are losing their sight and to parents who may just have found out their child is born blind or visually impaired. Do you think you could find some time to help us with fund raising in your area by organising flag days; replacing collecting tins in shops, when they are full, undertaking some small event such as a coffee morning or similar activity. I’m sure you will think of lots more ways of raising funds on our behalf, helping to make life that little bit easier for blind and visually impaired people in Highland. |
